  PCB Industry Expertise.
The PCB industry presents a myriad of challenges for fabricators and supporting vendors. Looking ahead, changes in technology and geographical market shifts continue to impact the way we do business and consequently, the way we manage information as well. Many PCB organizations have IT requirements that exceed what most generic solutions can offer. The reason for this is simple - circuit board fabrication is characteristically different than many other products in terms of business processes and manufacturing intricacies. In addition, varying types of PCB subassemblies, designs, and production methodologies contribute to the complexity of enterprise information management. For many generic software providers that may not experience this first hand, solutions deployment could be a huge undertaking and the potential for implementation failure remains very likely.

For many years, PCB organizations have depended and relied on PROMS for manufacturing enterprise solutions (MES) including re-engineering expertise and business support services. PROMS's deep understanding of PCB operations, design, and production backdrop has enabled the company to develop smart solutions that are tailored specifically to customer needs. Decades of research, planning, development, and testing - PROMS has partnered with mixtures of PCB companies that focus on every facet of board electronics. From prototype to production, rigid to flex circuitry, military to commercial, PROMS Enterprise solutions are tailored specifically to printed wiring/circuit board businesses with screens, data, and information analysis concentrated on one industry.

Easy-to-Use Adaptable Environment.
Fluent application interfaces contribute to user productivity which in turn impact daily operational flow and business efficiency. PROMS industry-based solutions (where data input screens and reported information is purely board business related) adapt to each departmental role without the need to deal with makeshift interfaces and incompatible functionality.
Reliable and Secure.
Applications are only as reliable as the organization that stands behind it. PROMS’s release strategy includes continuous improvements in product development, internal routing, and testing procedures - including a zero-tolerance approach for system defects. PROMS Enterprise also incorporates detailed user security with rights management to system modules, functionality, and reports access.

The key aspect to this integrated solution model can be attributed to PROMS's powerful database architecture, which allows for touch-points to be developed between open applications. The final outcome is transparent integration that is seamless to users – allowing for broader functionality with minimal trade-offs.

Developing gateways.
There are several different approaches to integration; however, the end result must accomplish all business and information requirements as considered necessary by the customer. Once touch – points are finalized, planning and series of integration gateways may be developed using XML, intermediary objects, or SQL tools to transfer data either unidirectional or bidirectional.

PROMS leverages database technology in common user interfaces to unite many of the essential functions needed to host a series of portal outlets that would enable real-time data synchronization between extended applications and business-to-business exchange solutions.

Integration objective.
To develop a complete set of systems integration transparent to the user, with all defined touch-points allowing for applications (manufacturing, financials, sales, distribution, e-portals, etc.) to communicate collectively while optimizing system operations and functionality.

Enterprise analysis.
Many companies may know their business performance from a broad perspective; however, operating without clear operations visibility could be risky. Enterprise software addresses this concern by leveraging back-end technology to provide analysis that helps decision-makers manage their organizations effectively. Within the board electronics industry, manufacturers truly rely on one software provider for advanced business analysis – PROMS. From front- to back-end operations, PROMS facilitates advanced information reporting by managing enterprise-wide data execution from plant operations, then formulating analysis that reflects business requirements.

Visibility enables efficiency.
Organizations are recognizing the opportunity to cut deeply into their time expenditures beginning with front-end processing. From a board manufacturer's perspective, time-savings (from order entry through release of final travelers to the floor) is critical in ensuring that everyone is on pace to making scheduled deliveries while remaining alert to handle production fluctuations. This model offers world-class manufacturers the prospect of achieving higher order fill rates, on-time shipments including increased business efficiency, manufacturing volumes, and improved product quality.
Emtranet Data Center Solution.
Complementary to PROMS' ProCIM Enterprise Solutions is its Emtranet Data Center Solution that is customizable with full views to directly access ProCIM's data architecture. Emtranet enables businesses to aggregate corporate data across multiple manufacturing sites and business divisions to determine business performance through advanced metrics and enhanced data presentation.
PCB Manufacturing and Assembly Focus
Lamination Engineering.

PROMS provides a dynamic workplace for planners and engineers by maintaining a central point of entry for their daily work. ProCIM's Lamination Engineering platform is unparalleled in the industry enhanced by a windows graphical interface with drag-and-drop capabilities. Within this key system segment, engineers can generate board lamination structures by stacking up foil, prepreg, and core materials on screen. In addition, the system can store unlimited model templates and quickly produces base structures (foil, cap, book) on-the-fly for any specified layer counts.
  • Optimized Graphical User Interface.
  • Lamination Template Structure Modeling.
  • Fluent drag-and-drop materials on-screen.
  • Rigid and Flex (Foil, Prepreg, Cores) materials.
  • Displays Subassembly drill-through and laser drill depth.
  • Calculated Thickness, tolerances, and S/P/M.
  • Impedance tables complement configuration.
Bill of Materials.

The primary purpose for designing graphical Lam structures is to represent materials required for manufacturing. To minimize data input replication, the system automatically generates Bill of Materials (BOM) derived from respective lamination structures defined for each part. Planners then also have the flexibility of editing, adding, or removing materials directly from the BOM module if necessary.
  • Automated multi-level BOM generation
  • Specify vendors to materials on BOM requirements
  • Include 'other' materials on BOM
  • Execute BOM re-calculation in seconds when materials are changed and updated

Integration with Material Issue and Inventory.

Planners can check on material availability prior to finalizing BOM in case immediate replacement and substitution is necessary. With integration between departments, BOM information is transferred to the shop floor preceding work order issue. With information flowing between planning and purchasing, buyers will already have access to material requirements prompting PO preparation for inventory replenishment.

Revision Control and Full Part History.

ProCIM effectively supports part and revision control while securing engineering change processes across all relevant areas. Engineers may gradually release changes made in the design phase for follow-up on planning, production, and costing. Also, changes can be saved to the entire tool master or to individual work orders within the plant.

Historical information contains full traceablity of engineering changes that includes related system users, dates, notes, and items that have been modified. In addition, planners may insert production-yield percentages to consider fall-out rates when calculating manufacturing quantities to be reflected on future orders.
